Obura
Company is a startup company located in the Silicon Valley area of
northern California. We are a small but enthusiastic group focusing
on developing treatments for neurodegenerative disorders. Our lead
candidate is a potential therapeutic agent for amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis (ALS). This candidate, called DM201, showed promising results
in a pilot preclinical study using a rat model of ALS. We are also
investigating a mechanism for the pathogenesis of ALS.
We have developed a set of highly efficient and cost-effective research techniques that allow us to maximize our productivity. We have found that this approach has allowed us to advance our research agenda further than would normally be possible for a company of our size. Our system gives us a significant advantage as we move forward through the pipeline process. Obura Company is a client of the San Jose BioCenter, an incubator facility for startup companies. The BioCenter is currently home to 30 young companies and is rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the pre-eminent facilities of its kind in the United States. It benefits from a $10 million dollar grant from the City of San Jose and also receives support from the San Jose State University Foundation.
