Obura Company is a preclinical stage company focusing on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, ALS is a severe and debilitating condition that affects an estimated 30,000 Americans and many more people overseas. People with ALS lose the ability to walk, to use their hands, and to eat and speak, and eventually become dependent on respirators. With average survival from diagnosis at 3 - 5 years and no truly effective treatments currently available, new therapeutic options are urgently needed.

We are currently testing our lead compound, DM201, in a rodent model of ALS, and we are also investigating mechanisms of pathogenesis of this disease.
